A Monolithic Canvas: Activating The Symes

Transforming Toronto's historic industrial incinerator into a soft, immersive brand experience using raw silk, amber lighting, and structural floral architecture.
The Symes stands as one of Toronto's most compelling architectural canvases: a former industrial incinerator whose raw concrete walls and soaring ceilings demand a design language that honours its monolithic presence while softening its edges. For this activation, we envisioned a dialogue between the structure's brutal heritage and the ethereal beauty of natural textiles. Panels of raw silk were suspended from the ceiling beams, catching the amber light we had carefully positioned to cascade down the concrete walls in warm, honeyed tones.
An Ivory Reverie in the Distillery District

Soft candlelight, hand-dyed silk runners, and 800 garden roses transformed the Fermenting Cellar into an intimate cathedral of warmth.
The Fermenting Cellar in Toronto's historic Distillery District possesses a rare quality: its exposed brick and timber beams create an atmosphere that feels both grand and deeply intimate. We began with light. Eight hundred taper candles in varying heights lined the ceremony aisle and reception tables, their warm glow reflecting off polished brass candlesticks and mercury glass votives.
Above the Skyline: A Golden-Hour Soirée

An elevated rooftop gathering at sunset, with curated cocktails, ambient lounge seating, and the Toronto skyline as the only backdrop required.
Some spaces need very little. A rooftop terrace at golden hour, with the Toronto skyline stretching in every direction, is one of those spaces. Our role was not to compete with the view but to frame it. We designed low-profile lounge clusters in warm neutrals — boucle sofas, linen floor cushions, and brushed brass side tables that caught the fading light.
Geometry of Desire: A Luxury Brand Launch

Directional lighting and geometric installations created a gallery-like atmosphere for a high-fashion product reveal in Toronto's east end.
For this luxury brand launch, we transformed an east-end Toronto gallery into a spatial experience that mirrored the brand's ethos: precise, bold, unapologetically modern. Geometric installations in matte black steel framed the product displays, creating sight lines that guided guests through the space like chapters of a visual narrative.
The Last Supper: A Candlelit Affair

Crystal glassware, gold chargers, and 200 taper candles. An intimate dinner for twelve that felt like stepping inside a Caravaggio painting.
An intimate dinner for twelve, but nothing about it was small. Inspired by the dramatic chiaroscuro of Caravaggio's masterworks, we designed an evening where light and shadow were the primary materials. A single long table stretched the length of the room, set with crystal glassware, gold chargers, and hand-pressed linen napkins.
Suspended Bloom: Sculptural Floral Art

An avant-garde floral installation: dried branches and blushing botanicals suspended in mid-air, blurring the line between event design and fine art.
This installation began with a simple question: what if the flowers were not on the table but above it? What if they floated? Working with a team of floral artists, we constructed a suspended installation of dried branches, blushing ranunculus, and bleached lunaria that hovered above the reception space like a cloud of organic matter caught mid-breath.
